An introduction to Vietnam

Vietnam is a small country located in South East Asia. The four borders of the country can be stated as the East side is covered by the South China Sea, Laos and Cambodia covered the West side.

The North side is shared with China. Vietnam is shaped like an elongated S where the basic regions are:

Central: This region can be characterized as alluring beaches, high plateaus, and lagoons. These are the real attractions for many visitors in the country. The ancient city of Hue is also present.

North: This side is characterized by its mountainous parts. The Red River Delta as well as plains can also be seen here.

South: This region is also very beautiful in Vietnam. The city of Saigon, previously called Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong River assures that visitors to Vietnam travel the length and breadth of the country.

Agriculture has been the principal economic mainstay of the country. Rice is the most important crop and it has also become a source of income because of exports. Some of the other crops include jute and tobacco while fruit trees are also cultivated in this country. Mineral deposits are abundant in Vietnam. In present days mining has become a growing Industry here.

The principal name of the country is Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The capital city is Hanoi. The name of the currency is Dong. The total population of the country makes up as majority is ethnic Vietnamese. Some Khmers, Chinese, and others are also present. The main languages spoken in Vietnam are Russian, Vietnamese, Chinese, French, and English while the main languages are Taoism and Buddhism.
